One Layer Butterfly Card

Happy Hump Day everyone, I hope you’re having a fantastic week so far!

This was something I made for a One Layer Card competition some years ago (and won recognition for) and I thought I would share it with you…One Layer Butterfly Card
Starting off with a diddy 4×4 card I stamped a butterfly motif using a free stamp from Creative Stamper in Versamark and then heat embossed with black embossing powder. Then, using a mixture of Broken Glass, Milled Lavender and Picket Fence Distress Stains, I created a messy, splodgy background over and around the butterfly, wiping off the excess ink from the embossed areas. Next, I unscrewed the top off a bottle of  Lilac Night mica spray from Carole’s Craft and flicked the tube end across the card to create flecks of colour.

I also coloured in the butterfly with Wisteria and Frost Blue Aquamarkers to add definition and bring out the colours a little bit more.
I then stamped a sentiment from Stampendous in StazOn and added lilac adhesive pearls to finish off the card.
I was actually a little bit dubious of this card to start with as I’m a bit of a perfectionist and was worried about getting the perfect ‘splodge’ (whatever that is). But as I kept going with it I actually ended up making something I really like. The more I look at it the more I like it!

Vintage Apron Card

Vintage Apron Card

Here’s a card I made a couple of years ago which I particularly love. Super simple but very sweet!

I started with a 6×6 Kraft card blank and distressed (using Tim Holtz Distress Ink in Pumice Stone on the top paper and Peeled Paint on the backing) and layered up two of the papers from the free Raspberry Road pad from Cardmaking and Papercraft magazine. I then decoupaged up three of the aprons (a little difficult to see in this picture) using foam pads to add dimension.

I then used an extremely old Stampendous stamp, inking up one of the sentiments and stamped it on a white strip of card and inked around the edge using Old Paper Distress Ink. I finished off the card with a triple bow using plum ribbon and two pearl pins.
A vintage look that I think is really pretty and quirky.
Hope you like it!

Welcome to My New Home

So here we are, cardboard boxes everywhere and I’ve forgotten where I’ve put the mugs…

I’ve decided to move to a brand new website! My old blog had been sadly left to fend for itself for a few years after I put more focus on my career for a while. I HAVE still been crafting though! So after rediscovering the old COAMC site, and realising that actually I wasn’t too bad at it, I thought I could do with a complete overhaul…and so here we are.

This time around I will be mixing things up a little bit, still doing the odd paper craft project here and there, but interspersed with sewing, textile crafts and any other little bits and pieces I have been up to; I guess we’ll find out!

I will be uploading some of the old content from my Blogger site so you can still have a nosey through that, but hopefully there’ll be plenty of new stuff to check out too.

So that’s it from here on out! Now, where did I put the kettle…
